Basic Meaning: three thousand

Senses:

  • Each of the ten realms 十界 of beings includes the other nine in itself. Thus there are one hundred realms altogether. These one hundred realms have each the ten factors 十如是 of beings. Thus there are conceived to be one thousand realms. These one thousand realms can be seen in the three realms of existence: the realms of sentient beings, insentient beings, and the five aggregates 五蘊 which constitute all beings, sentient or insentient.
