不二門

Pronunciations

Basic Meaning: gate of nonduality

Senses:

  • Ostensive dualities (e.g., birth and death, good and evil) are not two, but really one. This is the last point to check oneʼs mind before one meets the Buddha. The act of passing through the gate of nonduality can remind one of the Buddhist tenet that all things form a unified whole. Syn. 解脫門 (Skt. *advaya-mukha) [Ockbae Chun]
