不顧論宗

Pronunciations

Basic Meaning: arbitrary proposition

Senses:

  • One of four kinds of propositions in Buddhist logic 因明四宗. Putting forth oneʼs own proposition with utter disregard to the opinion of oneʼs discussant, even if that person has already clearly put forth a dissenting or refuting argument. Some reference works discuss this under the heading of 四宗. Nakamura gives the Sanskrit as abhyupagama-siddhânta, but this seems doubtful. 〔北山錄 T 2113.52.581b14〕 [Charles Muller; source(s): FGD, Nakamura, Soothill]
