Basic Meaning: the Buddha ascends to his seat
Senses:
The first case in the Congronglu 從容錄. In this gong'an 公案, the Buddha is seated on his dais when Mañjuśrī 文殊 strikes a wooden block with a small mallet and says,
" When one truly perceives the dharma of the Dharma King, the dharma of the Dharma King is just like this."
The Buddha then stepped down from his seat. See 諦觀法王法法王法如是.
〔從容錄 T 2004.48.227a21〕
. The same gongan is found in the ninety-second case of the Baiyanlu 碧巖錄 under the heading 世尊一日陞座. [Matthew McMullen; source(s): Yokoi, Ina-Z, FGD]
