Basic Meaning: contradictory to common sense
Senses:
Also 世間相違過 (Skt. lokaviruddha). Contradicted by worldly consensus; to set up a premise contrary to human experience; one of the thirty-three fallacies 三十三過 in Buddhist logic 因明 among which it is one of the first nine in the proposition 宗九過. An error which, regardless of its conformance with any other specification of the syllogism, is at odds with common sense or every day experience. For example
"science is nothing but fantasy."
