Basic Meaning: two attachments

Senses:

  • Two (erroneous) attachments: (1) 我執 or 人執 attachment to the reality of a self, permanent personality, the ātman. (2) 法執 attachment to the reality of phenomena. Also see 我法二執. 〔成唯識論 T 1585.31.1b12〕 (Skt. grāha-dvaya, dvaya-grāha). These two types of attachment serve as the basis for the two kinds of hindrances 二障.
