Basic Meaning: two kinds of elimination
Senses:
There are various versions of this pair, according to the text. In the Yogâcārabhūmi-śāstra they are the elimination of the afflictive hindrances 煩惱障斷 and the elimination of the cognitive hindrances 所知障斷.

In the Abhidharmakośa-bhāṣya they are the elimination of essential nature 自性斷 and the elimination of binding to external objects 緣縛斷 (所緣斷). [Charles Muller; source(s): FGD]
In Tiantai, severing of binding to seeds 子縛斷 and severing of binding to effects 果縛斷. The former refers to the elimination of mental disturbances of views and perceptions 見思惑, and the latter to the body received as retribution 果報身.
