Basic Meaning: five levels of samādhi

Senses:

  • The five kinds of samādhi taught in the Mahāvairocana-sūtra:
    1. On mortality, the 四禪 and 八定;
    2. śrāvaka on the four noble truths;
    3. pratyekabuddha on the twelve nidānas;
    4. bodhisattva on the six perfections 六波羅蜜 and the myriad practices 萬行;
    5. Buddha on the one Buddha-vehicle, which includes all others; see 五乘.
