五諦

Pronunciations

Basic Meaning: five truths

Senses:

    1. 因諦 the cause, which is described as the truth of arising 集諦 among the four noble truths;
    2. 果諦 the effect as the truth of suffering 苦諦;
    3. 智諦 or 能知諦 diagnosis as the truth of the way 道諦;
    4. 境諦 or 所知諦 the end or cure as the truth of cessation 滅諦; to these add
    5. 勝諦 or 至諦, the supreme truth, i. e. thusness 眞如.
