Basic Meaning: to contain the entire Buddha Dharma
Senses:
A school that equally values all of the Buddhist sutras 經 and śāstras 論 without preference for one particular text. A term used to describe Chan/Seon/Zen based on the assumption that because all of the Buddhaʼs teachings ultimately derive from his experience of meditation 禪, Chan/Seon/Zen encompasses all of those teachings.
