Basic Meaning: unexcluded both
Senses:
In Buddhist logic 因明, one of the five fallacies that occurs due to an error in negative exemplification 似異喩過, which is one of the two divisions of the ten fallacies of exemplification 喩十過 (Skt. ubhaya-avyāvṛtta, ubhayâvyāvṛtta). Failure of the negative example in excluding the properties expressed by both the middle term and the predicate. For example, a Śābdika proposing to a Sarvâstivādin:
"Sound is permanent because it is incorporeal. Whatever is not permanent is not incorporea1, such as space."
