Basic Meaning: cause simultaneous with its effect

Senses:

  • In Sarvâstivāda 有部 doctrine, a cause that arises simultaneously with its effect. According to Saṃghabhadra 衆賢, one of two general types of causes for: causes that precede their effects and causes simultaneous with their effects. Dhammajoti (2004, 97) identifies Sanskrit equivalents as sahaja or sahajāta. 〔阿毘達磨順正理論 T 1562.29.409a22〕
