  • (d. 606) Chinese monk, student of Huike 慧可, traditionally regarded as the third patriarch in the original Chan 禪宗第三祖 lineage from among the six patriarchs 六祖. He is said to be the author of the Seal of the Mind of Faith 信心銘, and the teacher of Daoxin 道信. Posthumously titled 鏡智禪師 or 鑑智禪師. [Charles Muller; source(s): JEBD]
