內心曼荼羅

Basic Meaning: internal maṇḍala

Senses:

  • A maṇḍala that is the subject of meditation. The doctrine of this maṇḍala is explained in the Secret Maṇḍala 祕密漫荼羅 Chapter of the Mahāvairocana-sūtra. Also written 祕密漫荼羅 and 內心漫荼羅. The latter form is also the name of the chapter in the Mahāvairocana-sūtra where this is discussed. 〔大日經 T 848.18.36c2〕 . In this text, the character 曼 is written 漫.
