Basic Meaning: eight kinds of pride
Senses:
The eight kinds of pride, or arrogance, resulting in domineering: because of strength 盛壯憍; of clan, or name 姓憍; of wealth 富憍; of autonomy, or position 自在憍; of years, or age 壽命憍; of cleverness, or wisdom 聰明憍; of good or charitable deeds 行善憍; of good looks 色憍. Of these, eight birds are named as types: 鴟梟 two kinds of owl, eagle, vulture, crow, magpie, pigeon, wagtail.
