六煩惱

Basic Meaning: six (primary) afflictions

Senses:

  • These afflictions are the basic set from which all of the secondary afflictions 隨煩惱 are derived; thus, they are also called the basic afflictions 根本煩惱. This set of six comprises one of the six groups of mental factors 心所有法 taught in the Yogâcāra system. The six are:
    1. desire (greed, craving) (also written and ),
    2. anger (or ),
    3. ignorance ,
    4. pride ,
    5. doubt and
    6. false views .
