Basic Meaning: Treatise of Six Aspects of Meditation Instruction

Asaṅga wrote the gāthā and Vasubandhu wrote the explanatory prose. Translation by Yijing 義淨: 4th day, 10th month, 3rd year of Chang'an 長安, Tang 唐 dynasty (November 17th, 703. ) in Ximing Monastery 西明寺.1 (According to Kaiyuan shijiao lu 開元釋教錄 Vol.9). The focus of this treatise is on using six aspects of meditation instruction to attain the mundane and supramundane realization. The six aspects are pursuit of relief 求脫, accumulation 積集, concentrating on one subject 於住勤修習, the consummation of the teacher and student 師資圓滿, the consummation of the object of perception 所緣圓滿, the consummation of focused attention 作意圓滯.
