Basic Meaning: simultaneous cause

Senses:

  • (Skt. sopādāna) (Vaidya 1963, 157;). 'Attended by clinging.' Nakamura defines as "to be together with the cause [of clinging]." 〔入楞伽經 T 671.16.583a2〕 [Billy Brewster; source(s): Hirakawa, Nakamura, M-W]
  • (Skt. sahetuka) "Having a cause or reason" (M-W). [Billy Brewster; source(s): Hirakawa, M-W]
  • A rendering of sahabhū-hetu found in the *Abhidharmasāra , ascribed to *Dharmaśrī 法勝, and the Abhidharmahṛdaya, ascribed to Narêndrayaśas 那連提耶舍. See Hyōdō (1985, 705). See entry under 倶有因. 〔阿毘曇心論 T 1550.28.811c5, 阿毘曇心論經 T 1551.28.838a25〕
