Basic Meaning: Big Dipper maṇḍala
Senses:
A maṇḍala based on the seven central stars of the Big Dipper 北斗, drawn with celestial personifications of six stars surrounding a larger central figure 一字金輪. There are directional maṇḍala and round maṇḍala versions. In addition to the central hall described above, the directional version has an outer hall around the perimeter with drawings of twenty-eight constellations figures, and a middle hallway with twelve signs of the zodiac.
