Basic Meaning: thirteen abodes
Senses:
Thirteen stages of bodhisattva practice that are taught in such texts as the Bodhisattvabhūmi-sūtra 菩薩地持經, Yogâcārabhūmi-śāstra, etc. These include the twelve bodhisattva abodes 菩薩十二種住 plus the abode of the Tathāgata 如來住. These are explained in close connection with the ten grounds 十地 of the bodhisattvas. Also called the thirteen practices 十三行.
