Basic Meaning: Daśabhūmika-sūtra

Senses:

  • (Skt. Daśa-bhūmîśvara) 9 fasc. T 287.10.535a-573. Trans. Śīladharma 尸羅達摩 and Dharmarakṣa 竺法護. One chapter of the Huayan jing 華嚴經 that articulates the ten grounds (bhūmi) of the bodhisattva—known in that text as the Chapter on the Ten Grounds 十地品. This text became so popular that it was translated into Chinese and circulated as a separate sūtra. The Sanskrit original was transmitted to China by a Chinese monk named Fajia of the Tang dynasty. The Sanskrit text was edited by J. Raldor in 1926. Vasubandhu 世親 wrote a commentary on this work, and its Chinese version was widely studied in the Southern and Northern Dynasties Period of China. Portions of this text are also equivalent to sections of the Yogâcārabhūmi-śāstra. See also T 278, 279, 285, 286.
