Basic Meaning: Manzan kōroku
Senses:
(49 fasc.) A work recording the sayings of Manzan Dōhaku 卍山道白 (1635–1714), compiled by his attendant Hakuryū 白龍 (1669–1760) and others and published in 1740. Its full title is Yōhō Manzan oshō kōroku 鷹峰卍山和尙廣錄. Fascicles 1–3 record talks given at Daijōji 大乘寺; fascicles 4–8 record talks from Kōzenji 興禪寺, Zenjōji 禪定寺, Tōfukuji 東福寺, Tōrinji 東林寺, and Genkōan 源光庵; fascicles 9–44 are made up of the following twenty-two subcategories: 拈古, 頌古, 法語, 警誡, 小佛事, 佛祖贊, 贊, 銘, 記, 序, 跋, 書, 說, 考, 雜著, 傳, 疏, 祭文, 上梁文, 字說, 號偈, and 詩偈; fascicles 45–48 include 寶林聯珠, 祖系考略, 禪戒訣, and 答客議; and fascicle 49 gives biographical information such as 塔銘, 碑陰, 道行, and 年譜. The work includes an introduction by Ryūshitsu Sōan 劉室宗安 (d.u.) of Nanzenji 南禪寺.
