Basic Meaning: Sanskrit syllable hūṃ

Senses:

  • Considered to be the generic seed of all deities in Esoteric Buddhism. It is often used in mantras and dhāraṇīs. It is composed from the four phonemes a अ,ha ह,u उ, and ma म. It means cause and is also said to signify thusness 眞如, from which all attributes are produced.
