Senses:
A monk of the mid-Heian period, Myōzen (963–1040) studied Yogâcāra Buddhism at Dainaji 大安寺 in Nara. He also studied Tendai, and received Shingon transmissions from Kangū 寬空. He lived at Godairinji 五大輪寺 in Nara, and is said to have founded Enjōji 圓成寺 at Mt. Ninniku 忍辱山, enshrining an eleven-headed Kannon there in 1026. [Heather Blair]
