Basic Meaning: power of longevity

Senses:

  • āyur-vaśitā. A bodhisattva has sovereignty over the length of life. He can prolong it to an immeasurable number of kalpas (eons). One of ten powers; ten kinds of mastery taught in the Bodhisattvabhūmi-śāstra; see 十自在. 〔十地經論 T 1522.26.183c14〕 [Charles Muller]
