Basic Meaning: substance of the reason

Senses:

  • In Buddhist logic 因明, a point accepted both by the proponent and by the opponent. For example, in the example 'voice is eternal,' or 'voice is impermanent,' if both sides agree to the reason that 'voice is created' then this can be the substance of the reason.
