Basic Meaning: opportune cloth
Senses:
The Ten Recitations Vinaya 十誦律 provides two definitions of this term. One is the cloth that is received during the pañca-vārṣika 般遮于瑟 assembly. The other is cloth opportunely received and distributed among the monks during the summer retreat as distinguished from the kaṭhina 迦絺那衣 cloth, which is especially given at the end of the summer. The novices 沙彌 are given one quarter.
