大乘五蘊論

Pronunciations

Basic Meaning: Mahāyāna Treatise on the Five Aggregates

Senses:

  • The Dasheng wuyun lun (Pañcaskandhaka-prakaraṇa); T 1612. By Vasubandhu 世親, translated by Xuanzang 玄奘 in 646 at Hongfu Monastery 弘褔寺. A proto-Yogâcāra work; English translation from Tibetan in Anacker (1984). This text examines the usage of the five aggregates as a means of classifying the factors of existence. The five are analyzed from a Mahāyāna perspective, and so in addition to the aggregates there is a discussion of the twelve fields 十二處 and eighteen realms 十八界. After listing the five aggregates of form , feeling , perception , volition , and consciousness , the five classes of 75 factors 五位七十五法 taught in Sarvâstivāda Abhidharma 薩婆多 are contrasted with the ninety four factors 九十四法 taught in Mahāyāna. The storehouse consciousness 阿賴耶識 is included in this discussion. Other works are the Wuyun jiekong jing 五蘊皆空經 translated by Yijing of the Tang dynasty and the Wuyun piyu jing 五蘊譬喩經 translated by An Shigao 安世高 of the Han dynasty: both are in the Za ahan jing 雜阿含經 2 and 10 respectively. There is also the Wuyun lunshi 五蘊論釋 a commentary by Vinītaprabha. (Skt. Pañca-skandhôpanibandha) 〔一切經音義 T 2128.54.643a21
