Basic Meaning: Mahāvīra Bodhisattva
Senses:
A bodhisattva in the Court of Omniscience 遍知院 in the Garbhadhātu maṇḍala 胎藏界曼荼羅. Seated on a red lotus, his left hand is placed below the navel holding a cintā-maṇi如意寶珠, while his right hand holds a vajra-sword 三鈷劍. Seed syllable: ka. Mudrā: lotus añjali 蓮華合掌. Mantra: namaḥ samantabuddhānāṃ sarvathāvimativikīraṇa dharmadhātunirjāta saṃ saṃ hā svāhā. The cintā-maṇi and sword represent the work of wisdom. Just as wish-granting jewels fulfill desires, so too does Mahāvīra aid beings in response to their cries of suffering. The sword represents wisdom which cuts through afflictions 煩惱.
