Basic Meaning: Chan Master Dahui Pujueʼs Arsenal for the Chan School
Senses:
Dahui Pujue chanshi zongmen wuku; one fascicle; T 1998b.47.943b-957c; Also known by the titles Dahui wuku 大慧武庫 and Zongmen wuku 宗門武庫. Compiled by Daoqian 道謙 (d.u.), with a preface dated 1186. A collection of comments on old Chan masters, as well as on a few who were his contemporaries, by Dahui Zonggao 大慧宗杲 (1089–1163), a famous Chinese master of the Yangqi branch 楊岐派 of the Linji school 臨濟宗 of Chan, also known by his posthumous title Pujue Chanshi 普覺禪師. Daoqian, a disciple of Dahui, had recorded many of his sermons and discussions, and from these selected short remarks and comments that he thought would be of interest to students. The text is known for being particularly rich in anecdotes.
