Basic Meaning: Gaurīmahāvidyā Bodhisattva
Senses:
A figure in the Court of the Lotus Division 蓮華部院 in the Garbhadhātu maṇḍala 胎藏界曼荼羅. White-yellow in color. In the left hand a blossomed lotus and the right hand in the wish-granting mudrā 與願印. Seated on a red lotus. The blossomed lotus represents the future minds of beings free of defilements. Although seated to the right (or west) of Tārā Bodhisattva 多羅菩薩, the Mahāvairocana-sūtra 大日經 (T 848) states this is to be Pāṇḍaravāsinī Bodhisattva 白處尊菩薩. Seed syllable: sa. Mudrā: lotus añjali 蓮華合掌. Mantra: namaḥ samantabuddhānāṃ kṣaḥ ḍaḥ ra yaṃ kaṃ svāhā. Abbreviated as 白身菩薩.
