Basic Meaning: Daikaku zenji goroku
Senses:
(3 fasc.) Also called Rankei oshō goroku 蘭溪和尚語錄, Daigaku roku 大覺錄, Kenchō kaisan Daigaku zenji goroku 建長開山大覺禪師語錄, and Rankei goroku 蘭溪語錄. A record of the sayings of Linji school 臨濟宗 monk Lanxi Daolong 蘭溪道隆 (1213–1278), compiled by his attendants such as Enken 圓顯 (d.u.) and Chikō 智光 (d.u.) and published in the late Kamakura period (1185–1333). Content includes records of sermons given at Jōrakuji 常樂寺 and Kenchōji 建長寺 in Kamakura and Kenninji 建仁寺 in Kyoto. This work was completed as a collaborative effort between Chinese and Japanese attendant monks and also includes content from sermons given in China. It was republished in 1745.
