Basic Meaning: canon of the lesser vehicle
Senses:
The Hīnayāna 小乘 canonical texts, also called sutras 修多羅 and śrāvaka scriptures 聲聞契經. They usually contain a focus on such matters as the Four Truths 四諦, eightfold path 八正道, twelve limbs of dependent arising 十二因緣 and so forth, especially as explained in the four Āgamas 四阿含經.
