Basic Meaning: Nairañjāna river

Senses:

  • (Pāli Nirañjarā, Nerañjarā). Also transliterated as 尼連禪江 and 尼連江; translated as 金流. In the Indian state of Biharu which runs near Buddhagayā (佛陀伽耶) eventually emptying into the Ganges. After practicing six years of fruitless austerities 苦行, Gautama renounced asceticism, bathed in this river, and received nourishment from a local young maiden.
