Basic Meaning: stage of nature
Senses:
The second of the ten stages as defined by the shared teaching 通教 of the three vehicles in Tiantai. A stage attained by inner worldlings 內凡. The illusion produced by attached views and perceptions 見思 is subdued and the mind obtains a glimpse of the emptiness of things; equal to the stage of the four wholesome roots 四善根 in the Tripiṭaka Teaching 藏教. Cf. 十地 (Skt. gotra-bhūmi).
