  • (751–830) Tang period Chan monk of the Niutou lineage 牛頭宗, also known as Yize 遺則. Originally from Chang'an his secular name was Changsun 長孫. He first followed the Chan master Suihui 隨慧, where he learned the essentials of enlightenment. Afterward he went south to Mt. Tiantai 天台山, opening a practice center at Fokuyan 佛窟巖, becoming the founder of Foku studies.   • (1303–1373) A Yuan period 元代 monk from the Yangqi lineage 楊岐派 of the Linji school 臨濟宗 of Chan .
