(751–830) Tang period Chan 禪 monk of the Niutou lineage 牛頭宗, also known as Yize 遺則. Originally from Chang'an his secular name was Changsun 長孫. He first followed the Chan master Suihui 隨慧, where he learned the essentials of enlightenment. Afterward he went south to Mt. Tiantai 天台山, opening a practice center at Fokuyan 佛窟巖, becoming the founder of Foku studies. His works include the Yourong zushi wen 有融祖師文, Baozhishiti 寶誌釋題, Nanyou fudashi xu 南遊傅大士序, and the Wusheng dengyi 無生等義.

(1303–1373) A Yuan period 元代 monk from the Yangqi lineage 楊岐派 of the Linji school 臨濟宗 of Chan 禪. Originally from Hangzhou 杭州 in Zhejiang 浙江, his secular surname was Fei 費, styled as Tianzhen 天眞, posthumously titled as Bingbo Laoren 冰檗老人.
