想
PronunciationsSenses:
Ideation is one of the five aggregates 五蘊. In Abhidharma theory, one of the ten omnipresent factors 大地法. In Yogâcāra, one of the five omnipresent mental factors 五遍行. In this context, the Cheng weishi lun says: "The nature of ideation (saṃjñā) is to grasp the images of objects, and its function is to impute various names and words. When distinct characteristics of the object are established, then various names and words are produced accordingly." 「想謂於境取像爲性。施設種種名言爲業。謂要安立境分齊相方能隨起種種名言。」 〔成唯識論 T 1585.31.11c23–24〕
