Basic Meaning: derivative matter

Senses:

  • The composition of material phenomena from the basic elements 四大; anything elemental or material; abbreviated as 所造 as contrasted with 能造. According to the Satyasiddhi-śāstra 成實論, the four data-fields 四塵 are the generators 能造, and the five faculties are that which is generated 所造, and the four elements encompass both.
