The text is a collection of questions and responses on Tiantai doctrine, which Enchin discussed with his master Liangqing 良請 of Chanlinsi 禪林寺 on Mt. Tiantai 天台山. The text is considered an orthodox source of doctrine in the Jimon branch 寺門派 of the Tendai school and is also referred to as the Secret Fascicles 祕卷.
