Senses:
the Mahāyāna-saṃgraha school of Chinese Buddhism, listed as one of the early thirteen schools 十三宗. This school developed based on studies of Paramârthaʼs 眞諦 translation of Vasubandhuʼs 世親 commentary on the Mahāyāna-saṃgraha-śāstra 攝大乘論釋 (T 1595). the Saṃgraha had been translated before this, but after Paramârthaʼs rendering of his commentary in 563, interest in the text heightened, bringing about a distinctive form of Consciousness-only 唯識 thought that posited a special interpretation of the ālaya consciousness (transcribed herein by Paramârtha as 阿梨耶識) and a ninth, undefiled (amala) consciousness 阿摩羅識. When Xuanzangʼs 玄奘 work on the Saṃgraha later appeared (T 1597), the studies of this school would be absorbed into Faxiang 法相宗.
