Basic Meaning: elimination and suppression of afflictions
Senses:
Elimination refers to the total extermination of afflictions, including all their latent forms such as seeds 種子 and habit energies 習氣. Suppression 伏 refers to the quelling of the active manifestations 現行 of the afflictions, leaving their final elimination yet to be done. See also 伏斷 and 二障.
