He later took his leave from Myōshinji and moved to Seikenji 淸見寺 in Suruga 駿河 (Shizuoka 靜岡 prefecture). He then spent time residing at Zengenji 禪源寺 and Eikōji 永興寺 in Hitachi 常陸 (Ibaraki 茨城 prefecture) before moving to Kōtokuji 興德寺 in Aizuwakamatsu 會津若松, Ōshū 奧州 (Fukushima 福嶋 prefecture). After the death of Taikyū Sōkyū on the twenty-fourth day of the eighth month of 1549, Genshin returned to Kyoto to establish the Reiunin 靈雲院 stūpa at Myōshinji. He passed away on the eleventh day of the seventh month at an age of more than ninety. His posthumous title is Fusai Eisō Zenji 普濟英宗禪師. He left behind ten disciples.
