  • One of the four great continents 四大洲 of Indian mythical cosmology, which is located on the eastern side of Mt. Sumeru 須彌山. It is semicircular in shape. The standard lifetime of its human inhabitants is 250 years. 〔四教儀 T 1931.46.776b06〕 (Skt. Pūrvaṃ videho dvīpaḥ; Tib. shar lus 'phags po).
