Basic Meaning: right behavior

Senses:

  • Right action; Acting in a way that is not harmful to oneself or others, avoiding all wrong. The fourth component of the eightfold path 八正道. Abstaining from taking life, or what is not given, or from carnal indulgence (Skt. samyak-karmânta, karmânta; Pāli sammā-kammanta; Tib. yaṅ paḥi las kyi mthaḥ; yang dag pa'i las kyi mtha').   • The main activity, also written as 正定業.
