Basic Meaning: prostrating in homage

Senses:

  • Paying utmost homage to 歸命 (to the Buddha, etc); bowing by prostrating the whole body to the ground; to prostrate oneself with the head at the feet of the one reverenced. Also written as 歸命禮, and 皈命頂禮. See also 南無. 〔大日經疏(卷十二), 往生禮讚偈〕 [Ockbae Chun]
