Basic Meaning: the fruit of the Dharma

(Skt. phala). [Seishi Karashima]
Faguo (d.u.), 4–5th century Buddhist monk of the Northern Wei. He entered the order at the age of 14, applying his full energies to the practice of the Vinaya and the study of the scriptures. Around 396–397, he was invited to the capital by the emperor), where he became the leader of the saṃgha and was often consulted on various matters by the emperor. He passed away sometime during 416–423, at the age of more than eighty, with his departure much lamented by his ruler.
