Basic Meaning: Dharmasaṃgīti-sūtra

Senses:

  • The Faji jing. (Tib. Chos yaṅ-dag-par sdud pa). 6 fasc.; K 404, T 761. Translation by  菩提流支: 4th year of Yanchang 延昌, Northern Wei dynasty 北魏魏 (CE 515. ) in Lodu 洛都. While the Buddha was explaining the entry to into all of the graded practices, two bodhisattvas who were attending the sermon, named Nothing to Reveal 無所發 and Energized Wisdom 奮迅慧, had their own exchange in a separate building, wherein Nothing to Reveal, empowered by the Buddha, lectured on dharma-gatherings 法集, dharma-practices 法門, etc. The Buddha accepts the teaching of Nothing to Reveal as being authentic, and so Nothing to Reveal, having passed through the questioning of Śāriputra 舍利弗, explains the meaning of the vigilance in true practices and the Dharma that is obtainable during the period of bodhisattva practices before attaining Buddhahood. He explains the concept of dharma-gatherings to the ten śrāvakas including Śāriputra according to their ability, and in so doing receives the seal of approval from the Buddha. Then, thirteen bodhisattvas including Maitreya 彌勒 explain the most excellent dharma-gathering one after the other, the Buddha stresses that this is the greatest teaching, and Nothing to Reveal gives rise to an extremely rare mental state. Nothing to Reveal, who receives from the Buddha a guarantee for the attainment of perfect enlightenment twelve kalpas in the future, vows to safeguard this teaching in the future, and is praised by the Buddha, concluding the sutra.
