  • (1274–1339. ); posthumous title 大鑑禪師. Chinese monk of the Linji school 臨濟宗. Founder of the Japanese Rinzai Seisetsu Branch 淸拙派, sometimes also called Daikan Branch 大鑑派, one of the twenty-four transmissions of Zen 禪宗二十四流 that reached Japan. Came to Japan in 1326. [Michel Mohr]
