Basic Meaning: Path of Purification
Senses:
The Visuddhimagga by Buddhaghoṣa 佛音. A major Pāli text that delivers some of the seminal teachings of the Theravāda tradition, by elucidating the path to liberation through the three practices of morality 戒, concentration 定, and wisdom 慧. It contains two chapters on precepts, eleven on meditation, and ten on wisdom, totaling 23. It is considered to be equivalent to the Vimokṣamārga-śāstra that exists in Chinese translation as 解脫道論.
