Basic Meaning: nothingness-venerating non-Buddhist
Senses:
This term refers to non-Buddhists that hold nihilistic views 斷見外道 and support the idea of nonexistence 空無 and no-self 無我. In this case, 無我 does not refer to the concept of no-self (Skt. anātman) preached in Buddhism, but rather refers to the extreme of annihilationism 斷滅. In Buddhism, no-self and śūnyatā 空 refer to the nominal existence 假有 of phenomena that are produced from causes and conditions 因緣所生法 and not to simple nihilism.
